Over the past decade, technological innovations have been occurring continuously and in record amounts. These improvements, especially with regard to computers, are opening new doors of information and are leading to more instances of unethical behavior. Temptations have always faced man, but recently computers are becoming a central and common place for these temptations to occur. The benefits of computers and technology have been far outweighed by the negative effects, which have allowed the Christian world to become dishonest and disconnected from God.
Technological innovations have been occurring rapidly in the past decade. Commonly, technology is referred to as an ever-improving and ever-changing industry, where things are becoming bigger and better than they were yesterday. Even in 1966, it was recognized that computers have a potential to be catastrophic, which has been proven by certain individuals and has been documented in the news headlines (Williams, 6).
Computers offer beneficial opportunities to exchange information, such as Christians teaching others about God and the Bible; however, the beneficial opportunity is typically lost once the computer is turned on. The ranges and types of software that can be installed and the information available on the internet have "shaped our thinking and our experiences in complex ways, sometimes without realizing it" (Veith & Stamper, Page 24). Often times, a person's identity and behavior will change with the use of each technological innovation and device. These changes result in a disconnection from reality and from God.
