I choose The University of New Castle in my research.
Requirements:
1. Identify what the organization sees as the current and future strategic change requirements and future directions against their existing policies and practices.
Current Strategies:
* Recognized and respected as a University of distinction, with committed and involved staff;
* Leaders in equity and diversity, playing a transformative role in communities, locally, nationally and internationally;
* Teaching leads in the education of professionals, and the students are satisfied and engaged
* The vision of the University to achieve a recognition for the performance and also for the committed and involved staff. The university also aims at achieving the position in terms of the transformation and contribution that it provides to the society. Also, the organization focuses on bringing out the best of them by showing how the students from the university are satisfied and engaged.
* University's research has global impact and influence, and is connected to important theoretical and practical issues; and
* Organization is responsive, engaging and strong, and capable of being both clear in its direction and flexible enough to adapt to changing circumstances
* The organization also focuses on extending their research to the global impact and focuses on highlighting the importance of the research conducted in the university as well. The organization also aims being flexible and adapting to change.
* The company operates on the values of Honesty, fairness, trust, accountability and respect. It is evident from the organisation's website and strategic plan that a lot of importance is given to these values and these form the crux of the university.
* Now moving on to the main strategic plan of the organisation, it is important to note that the plan has been devised for the years 2011 - 2015. The organisation seems to have put in a high amount of detailed planning and clear cut ideas of what they plan to achieve.
The main focus of the organisation is to focus on the vision and to make all current as well as future changes based on the vision. The organization is committed and dedicated to achieve the vision.
All of the strategic change requirements are focused on mainly five areas:
1. Quality teaching and Learning: The aim here is to make the classes a dynamic and world class experience for the students. The organization focuses on developing an effective teaching and learning environment to meet the needs of the changing lifestyles and also to support the flexible learning among students and to fit the needs to achieve higher outcomes.
2. Research: The university aims at becoming more innovative and also improving the research conducted within the university. Here this the university aims at achieving by keeping a mutually beneficial collaboration with the government as well as industries.
3. Opportunities and Equities: In the world where every aspect is becoming diverse and multicultural, the University also focuses on the same. The main aim here is to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Also, the university focuses on flexibility and cultural diversity, to learn and acquire more from racial as well as religious understanding and differences.
4. Community Engagement: Not only is it important to concentrate on improving itself, the organization is also focused on improving the community around it as well. Here it can do its best by contributing to the research and development which will help the community grow and develop.
5. Life and Learning: The organization focuses on achieving an environment where the individuals can learn to create a balance between their work and education. Also, to work with the alumni to contribute and open up diverse range of opportunities for the students.
The future direction that the organization focuses towards is based on the five main subjects. These are:
a) The main purpose of the University, learning, teaching and research. Also engagement of the students also forms a main element of the university and its purpose.
b) Secondly, the main people of the university, i.e. students, parents, staff, community and all stakeholders. The changes are made keeping all of them in mind to ensure they receive the best from the changes.
c) Place, the location the university operates as well as the virtual aspects of the university as well. Here all local, national as well as international elements are considered while making the decisions.
d) The next important subject is the platform on which the university focuses on and is dependent. These include the facilities, the sustainability aspects, the financial sustainability and also governance.
e) Finally, external context refers to the ability of the university to keep in track with the changing environment and the changing needs of the higher education.
