Planning for success

I grew up in a very small town in North Western Pennsylvania called North East, I currently live about 45 minutes from there in the city of Erie. I adopted out of the foster system when I was three years old. I grew up with seven siblings and two wonderful parents. My parents were foster parents for 20 years taking in over 30 foster children. My parents raised us all in the Lord, and respecting who we are and others. My parents taught me how to love others even when they are different then we are. To be respectful no matter what and to find the blessing no matter what is going on in your life. These values has shaped me into the Godly women that I am today. The values they taught me was the very reasons I wanted to become a psychologist and help others. I want to love on others in there desperation, just like my parents loved on me in mine. My greatest strength is that I am a very happy person. I love truly finding the blessing even out of the worst and being happy no matter what is going on. My weakness is that I am a very talkative person. Sadly enough that gets me into more trouble than good sometimes.

In 2010 I graduated from North East High School with my diploma. I loved the small High school I attended.  This school was more like one big happy family. All the teachers a faculty wanted to see students succeed no matter what their background or learning struggles were.  One thing that I disliked about being in such a small school was that everyone knew everyone’s business. My favorite Teacher was a lady named Patty Callen. She was my 9th grade English Teacher and also one of the Homeroom Teachers for the class of 2010. Mrs. Callen was a lady that stuck by you even when you were failing. She practiced what she taught. She was lady that taught respect, even when you thought you shouldn’t. When I was a freshman I needed to get hearing aids and I was so scared. However, Mrs. Callen help me receive all the necessary aids that I needed to succeed in school with a hearing disability.  I applied to GCU online this past August.  I applied because I knew that I needed to better my education to better my life for my son and myself. I felt that I needed to prove to my son that no matter what your situation is in life you can still determine where you end up in life.

I intend to graduate from GCU with my Psychology Degree in May of 2018. I have only one Academic Goal and that is Graduating with all A’s and B’s. I have two personal goals. First, I want to raise my son to respect others and to love the Lord with all his heart. My second goal is to be able to make a lasting Godly impact on the people that I counseling. I am going to make a schedule and stick to it to ensure that I will graduate. I am going to make sure that I am an honorable Godly person so that every person I come in contact with sees Christ through my actions. I hope to be working with Children that are in the public school system that have special needs. I chose this profession because I watched my brother with special needs suffer to receive the education that he needed. I want to give others that same opportunity. My life will change after GCU because I will be able to receive a job that will allow to better provide for my son.
