Usability Problem Description

In the picture shows above is the user problem that we have encountered. It shows that on the search bar itself does not offer any search suggestion and recommendation. This can cause the user or the first time user who browsing the website for the first time will have difficulties to find the product that they want.

To solve this issue is by improving their own search engine and use the example of other e-commerce websites such as Amazon, AliBaba, eBay, Lelong and so on. Here is the example of the other website that they have a functioning search bar and suggestion:

The Prototype Solution

To improve the search bar itself, we suggest and make a prototype that was based on the other e-commerce website such as Amazon and eBay.

The picture 1.0 above shows that the TechHyperMart search bar was based on Amazon website. This shows that the search bar has a categories and department in it. It also provides the user to make choices to click on, whether the product is on the other categories or the other departments.

Lastly, we also provide the next prototype that was based on eBay website. As you can see the Figure 2.0 above, it shows that the search bar has the categories like the previous prototype. However, it provides the user a choice to disable eBay suggestion by clicking on the “Hide eBay suggestions” and with that, the user can customize their own search bar by giving them choices.
