The Vaccine War

When watching The Vaccine War I was instantly intrigued with the starting scene of the narrator discussing the new born being given her first vaccine just an hour after being born. The narrator also mentions that this baby will receive a total of 35 in the next 6 years to help fight 14 diseases. It goes into stories of families that have hesitations about giving newborn vaccines so early in life. One mother even published an article in mothering magazine, which promotes a new naturalistic lifestyle. This mother I would think in an experimental setting would be what I think we call an outlier, I believe she would skew the results of a large sample group. It discusses the town of Ashland , Oregon having the lowest number of children vaccines and how doctors fear that because of these parents' decisions, they may see diseases that they have not seen in decades began to pop back up. They use the Shakespeare Festival as an example of how diseases could be brought back into Ashland. Doctors I think can conduct an experiment testing that the more none vaccinated children could in fact contract a sickness and pass it on to other non vaccinated child and with the more children non vaccinated the diseases could strengthen and eventually the vaccines given to those who agreed to it could be infected because the vaccine was not strong enough to fight off the disease. The CDC talks about the limitations within the studies and the risks factors and side effects as well of sickness and vaccines. Many articles have been written and discussed. Just a few that we talked about were Fighting for Cole's future and Mothers fears over vaccine along with several others. Cons with the vaccine being given were that a correctional may have been found between vaccines and defects found in children specifically measles vaccine and autism in children. Doctors began to look into this more and were trying the find the cause and effect between the two. FDA because of this asked physicians to reduce the amount of vaccines given to children. Further studies was conducted with a control group and experimental group in testing the MMR and correctional with autism and found no correctional and instead in Asian countries found an increase in autism those children not given the vaccines recommended. The Institute of Medicine put out a manuscript with a conclusion " the body of epidemiological evidence favors rejection of a causal
