Making the company a better place to work; starts with the philosophy of making better possible. Good training has been a success resulting in three fourths of management starting out as an hourly associate. Wal-Mart has an open door policy in place to meet the customer and associates' needs. There is a grass roots process that has been in place since the first store was opened. This process is wearing most of the ideas for Wal-Mart is generated. It is made up of ideas from associates that work in the stores. Servant leadership is also another part of the strategy. The managers of the stores are on the floor listening to the associates and customers and not being behind their desk.
One goal that needs to be improved upon is adding new stores abroad especially with supercenters will be a main priority; they will increase profit and will allow customers a one stop shopping experience. This will increase the profits; however the company cannot cater to the public as in the United States. This will limit the products compared to the local need. In all the research that I have done I believe that Wal-Mart uses a Matrix Organizational structure, or Geographical Departmentalization matrix, which means that Wal-Mart divides the company into geographical regions like North America, Europe etc. and then follows areas in the Departmentalization matrix and then divides their products into a departments that is monitored through management and sales groups.
