Wayne Gretzky developed his love for hockey in his early years. From the very first game Wayne Gretzky played in the NHL, he was just a little better then the rest of the players. To begin, Wayne Gretzky developed his love for hockey in his early years. He started playing when he was young. Wayne Gretzky was born January 26, 1961 in Brantford Ontario and his father Walter taught him all about hockey when he was little. Wayne Gretzky started playing hockey in his early years his father Walter taught him the basics of hockey as he was growing up. Wayne Gretzky reputation as the best hockey player goes beyond his skating though, because he is know for his great community involvement. Gretzky later moved up to a stronger league and boarded with another family and played with kids twice his age and height (Dryden). When Gretzky turned eleven he scored 378 goals. Wayne also lead the NHL league in goal scoring and re-wrote the record book in the NHL league by the time he retired. Gretzky played Junior A in 1977 and boarded with another family and played with kids twice his age and height.

Wayne Gretzky deserves the reputation as the best hockey player because he worked harder then other players and put lots of time, effort, and practice into his game to come out on top which he achieved and that's why he is still know as the greatest. Gretzky scored 378 goals at the age of eleven during the 1971-1972 season(Steve Dryden). Gretzky turned pro at the age of 17 and played with the Indianapolis Racers hockey association but eight games after he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. to skate he would walk around the ice with Wayne so he would be able to get use to the ice and his skates.
