What has happened in the lecture/s, what topics have we dealt with, what exercises have we done?
It was the second day of the seminar class. The main outline of the seminar was concentrated on interface between market and technology, characteristics of innovation and innovation mapping. We also discussed about change which deals with doing something new. We also discussed about 3 lens of technological innovation which comprises of technological lens, market lens and competitive lens. I also realized that cooperation is very important in competition (Co-optation = Competition + cooperation).
We also talked about innovation mapping where innovation is distributed as domain and scope. Further we also talked about hard and soft innovation.
What are eye-openers and what made me enthusiastic? Any new ideas, comments, "aha" moments that occurred to me during the class in relation to Technology and Innovation Management (TIM).
The best thing of the 3rd day of the seminar class was that sir gave us real life example of the technology and innovation. He said that General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US were the big three manufacturers of USA. When Chrysler was about to collapse the government provided financial subsidy where Ford and GM also supported Chrysler. There was immense competition but there was cooperation and support as well. But in our society, we just pull our competitors legs whether they succeed or fail. Hence, I realize that such social innovation is also important in our society to succeed.
sir also told an old story of 1930s. According to him, in 1930 a meeting of 10 richest people of the world was held. Then they talked about their business, annual turnover, and their standards in the society and so on. And they agreed to meet after 10 years. After 10 year, the meeting was held and only 6 were there in the meeting. The reason was 2 people suicide due to financial loss, 2 people got bankrupt. Hence one must seek continuous improvement through innovation as time passes.
