What is health and how can somebody be healthy. The World Health organisation defined health as: A state of complete physical, social and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Within the context of health promotion, health has been considered less as an abstract state and more as a means to an end, which can be expressed, in functional terms as a resource, which permits people to lead an individually, socially and economically productive life. Health is a resource for everyday life, not the object of living. It is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources as well as physical capabilities. (1)

Differences in income, education, and occupation alone do not explain all of the inequalities in health status, as health is multidimensional. What other determinants can account for the fact that everyone's health is different? There is not one answer to this question, but there are several possible explanations. For instance, a person's economic status. Because of socio-economic disparities, there are differences in the availability of health care in rural Australian compared to urban Australia and, therefore, exposure to illness, disease, and injury are of greater risk. Lesbian women have a higher incidence of alcohol and drug abuse than there heterosexual peers. (3) Homosexuality has been the centre of debate and controversy for centuries. Some groups claim that homosexuality is unnatural and immoral, and that it is strongly condemned in some religious texts (4). With views like this it is very hard for homosexuals to have a stable health.

Socio-economic status can also impact on our health. Your socio-economic status is a ranking based on economic or social factors or according to occupational prestige and power; socio-economic status is often viewed in relation to social-class categories, such as working class and upper class, and often measured according to occupation and income (5). People from low socio economic circumstances are more likely than people from higher socio economic groups to participate in drinking smoking, drug abuse have an
