Whats eating Gilbert Grape
I wouldn't be surprised to find a family like the Grape family in highland county. A family that really needs knowledge about them selves and the members of their family. If I was their case manger I would really put them is a family counseling group not to put each other down but so they know what each other is going through. I would send them to FRS to get them into their counseling. For Mamma as an example she is severely depressed I can see this from the movie because her husband unexpectedly killed him self and Gilbert says " mamma use to be the prettiest women, until daddy hung him self up to dry." it made her feel like she should of known something was wrong and she was blaming her self. Some sings in the movie were,Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day, Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt, Significant weight loss when not dieting or weight gain. When Mamma gained all the weight she then became depressed about that, she had the sham and guilt about her being so big. Mamma was embarrassed about her self, also she felt bad for her children for having to take care of her. She still wasn't getting out of the house, she dependent on her kids to make food, clean, pay bills, fix the house, and take care of their little brother Arnie. She also babies Arnie the whole movie calling him her baby and her sun shin, she also disciplines his other sibling if they bring Arnie down of if he is in trouble and no one helps him. If I was her case manger in highland county I would probably send her to Scito paint valley for her to get help with her personal problems she is facing. Then I would have her go to highland district hospital to see if she has any more health problems that she needs to take care of and to see a dietrician.
Then there is Amy, I think she is borderline depression just because she has so much on her plate. She has to take care of her overweight mother, cook clean and do the womanly things around the house. She probable feels alone because she is with mother all day every day and everyone eles has a job, she use to have a job but that was before the school burnt down . I would also say that she is anti-social, because Amy was very quite the whole
