Why Batman should not be considered a superhero and the importance of it

Throughout history, Batman is well regarded by many as a superhero. People think this way because he is mentally strong, excellent in combat, brilliant in detective work, willing to do good deeds like protecting the city, etc. However, that’s because of his skills and high intelligence. That doesn’t prove that he has powers, and I personally believe that this just classifies Batman only as a hero and not a superhero. This shows us to society that anybody can be like him with the right determination and I will delve into that as this essay progresses.

The main reason I think Batman isn’t a superhero is because he doesn’t have any superpowers. Some examples of superheroes having superpowers are the Hulk having super strength, Spider Man being able to crawl on walls, The Flash having super speed, Luke Cage being bulletproof, Superman flying and having X-ray vision, etc. Even though Batman can do things that no normal human being can do (as listed in the first paragraph), that doesn’t mean that this gives him super powers. This is why he should be classified only as a hero. He also shows that leading up to his heroics, he wasn’t destined to become Gotham City’s protector. He went through hell to become the Bat that we all know, and love through dedication mainly because he wanted to avenge his parents death. He was always about learning as in new combat techniques after each fight. He may be the strongest, but he always learns something new in order to be prepared for the worst. He shows to society that with the right effort, work ethic, and determination you could be just like him. He also shows to society that you don’t need to be a millionaire, famous, or good looking to be heroic and do what’s for the best. I believe that this is very important because it shows that people like you and me can commit acts of a hero with the right actions.

All in all, it seems that Batman is just a hero and not a superhero. This relates and tells us that in society, with the right ethics and morals, anyone can do good deeds. It also shows that in society it’s important to do what’s best for people especially the ones that you care for and for those that’re innocent.
