Think back to that small group time where you just felt like everyone in your group totally connected and you could have talked for hours about Tim’s talk or what God was doing in your lives. Think about that time when you felt totally alone but forced yourself to go to youth group anyway and by the time small groups were over, you realized you have so many people who love and care about you.

I don’t know about you, but small groups are one of my absolute favorite parts of youth group. Yeah, the talks are really important, as well as worship and the fellowship and messing around that we do, but without small groups, how would we process all the incredibly insightful information Tim has just bestowed upon us? I think it would be really difficult because we wouldn’t have the input of the other people in the group to help us form our own opinions.

Small groups are a time where people from all different parts of their spiritual walks can come together and support one another. If someone is hurting or going through a though time either spiritually or emotionally, it is our responsibility as the body of Christ to come together and pray and spend time with that person. We are a community and that means we must care for each other in all situations, even if we don’t always get along perfectly all the time.

So I challenge you to get a little vulnerable with the people in your small group. Realize that we all struggle at some point in our lives, often many, and know that those people care about you deeply and want to help. Your leader has chosen to spend every Thursday night with you and work through the good and bad times, they pray for you all the time and are always available to listen. Take advantage of their willingness and the willingness of all your friends in your small group. These times are so important for our spiritual development as well as the development of our relationships as a group. So again, be a little risky. Talk about that thing you have wanted to discuss for so long but were never sure how and realize that we are not here to judge, only help each other through the rocky parts of the journey.
