The author Octavius butler is a well known writer who writes stories that are focused around utopian society. most of her stories are a form of a dystopian tale. in the story speech sounds she is writing about a virus that caused a big epidemic where she used one woman to communicate with the rest of society that couldn't communicate for themselves because of this virus.
she talks about an unusual epidemic that involves a new virus ,which doesn't have an cure for it. it was a special rare case that involved two girls from their society that could speak. the question was, are they immune to the virus , did it not have an effect on them, or were they just born after the silence? this is a horrible virus that everyone is worried about.
rye was very important to the story because she was the only one fortunate enough to be able to communicate with others who cant communicate at all. the reason why the people where not talking is because of the virus . rye felt like she needed to help out so she decided to help with communication.
The author butler , shows how important it is fo us to speak and have languages in society's. the virus caused there society to not be able to talk or communicate so there for they were not able to practice their own language . that shows that this was an horrible epidemic that happen to the society.
the epidemic ruined their whole society and impacted them in a horrible way. this is why I believe that this short story by butler is closely related towards a dystopian society then compared to being a utopian society.
