Written Coaching Philosophy
My personal coaching philosophy overall, is about the athletes. Like the motto says, "Athletes first winning second". That is part of my motto of coaching. First of all, education and lifetime health is important. For example, I would teach the correct form and the right way to do something/the event. My philosophy would encourage team cooperation. Some examples of that are showing good sportsmanship and a strong/good work ethics. I want my athletes to have fun and enjoy the sport. I also want the athletes to show me respect. I know that winning is not everything, but it is certainly nice to win. I would want to teach my athletes winning is not everything, but it is important for them to do their best in anything they do.
I would intend to use the corporative leadership/coaching style. I would be organized and have a plan worked out. I would listen to the athletes and listen and take it into consideration. I would be a good communicator. Yes, I may be tough sometime but only when necessary and when appropriate.
Respect is a big part in my coaching philosophy. I will encourage my athletes not to talk back to the officials or not to trash talk other competitors. Another belief is if athletes don't come to practice they will not participate in the next meet. Practice is there to better the athlete and his abilities. I will discipline when needed. Honesty is another belief I would like to represent. I would want to convey to my athletes that I am enthusiastic about the sport but also about life in general. I would be consistence with everything. I would want to install all the skills, beliefs, attitudes, and ideas into other aspects of life, not just in sports.
