Yahoo Auctions is one of the most recognized auction sites on the internet, they account for more then 2 millions user logins daily. Yahoo as a company has one of the top marketing teams in the online business, while other online companies have failed over the years Yahoo Inc has still remained intact. Yahoo has many marketing tools that is used in order to attract buyers as well as sellers to the companies website, some of the tools include web links to the site, value saving from the site, and emails sent to Yahoo Supreme account holders.
Tools
One of the tools used in order to market the website is links and ads on the main yahoo website. An exampleof how the links work for the website would be if someone wanted a pair of Nike Jordans, if the phrase NikeJordans is searched for the yahoo auction page would be the first result in the search, with a descreption of the item listed by the seller. A lot of people search yahoo to find items for sale, by having the Yahoo Auction website being the first result seen it allows the website to have first priority in viewing over the other sites.
Another tool used by Yahoo to attract buyers would be advertising cheaper listing fees. On cetain occasions yahoo would allow users to list items for a cheaper price then usual, and example would be listing for only 10 cents, compared to the normal $2.00 listings. With the listing being cheaper it allows the seller to pocket more profit. Yahoo loses money by allowing the sellers to list for so low, but ultimatley gets it back in the long run with the increase of items being sold on the site.
Email adds are very popular in advertising buyers as well as sellers. Yahoo has well over 35 million users with a yahoo email address, once you sign up for the email address yahoo would send you offers to upgrade your email account as well as check out some of he other features. One of the features listed on the email is the auction site, the email allows buyers to sign up from the email message and receive $15.00 in credit on the purchase of an item from the site. This email is sent to a select few who choose to buy the supreme package from the Yahoo site.
