Watching television is an experience shared by families across the world that include both adults and children. Watching television is a great and exciting past time for some families. Television is cheap, appealing, and within the reach of the general public. It has become an important mass media around the world because most families across the world have access to a television whether it be their own or whether it be someone else's . Sadly, the television resource isn't really used in a way that adults and mainly children could get the best possible benefits from it. The purpose of this essay is to persuade the reader that children shouldn't watch too much television because the majority of the content of TV programs is not educational for young children, watching television makes children waste time that could be used in more beneficial activities; and watching TV can negatively affect children's mental development.

To begin with, the first reason why children should not watch too much television is because the content of many TV programs is not educational and some shows are just too inappropriate for them to see. Nowadays, we can see movies, series, and shows that present scenes of violence, sex, and drugs. This has established wrong concepts among the audience that influence them into having a negative behaviour. Moreover, the impact these type of shows have on children is much more worse because they grow up with the idea of a world where women must be slim and good looking to stand out in the world and to get anywhere in life. Also by watching these types of television shows children will to think that someone's problems can only be solved with money and violence . Another thing that children might pick up from television is that the only way to make money and be successful in life is to resort to a life of crime whether it being selling and cooking drugs or bank robberies. So because of the content on some television shows this could lead our children to think that this is what they have to do in life to be successful.
