Career Research Essay

Business degrees provide broad academic exposure to the critical elements that make organizations function efficiently. A Business major can apply their skills to virtually any industry. Having a business degree can give a lot of opportunities in a lot of different fields. The preferred skill, talents or qualities for someone entering a business occupation includes; communication, planning, productivity, creativity, career management skills, and leadership. It has always been a dream of mine to one day open and run a business. I feel that I know myself well, and that this career field would suit me best. The education, training or other preparation that is required or recommended for those interested in working in this occupation is development of management, development of technical skills, marketing and sales. Some of my academic goals that would help me succeed in this field include: To develop effective leadership and management skills in order to apply these skills in practice, improve my academic performance in order to become more professional in decision making and goal setting practices, develop good technical skills in order to apply new technologies in business practices, learn more about business management strategies that could be applied in practice, learn how to identify and successfully resolve various organizational and business problems, develop my communication skills that are necessary in achieving strategic goals, learn more about strategic planning in business, use my skills and abilities to continue maintaining a “B” average, and to do everything possible to keep satisfactory attendance.
