Gladiator
As I have watched the movie Gladiator, Staring Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Connie Nelson, I thought to myself this may be the best movie I have ever seen. First of all, I would like you to focus on the life like battles and the somewhat true life of a gladiator; I tried to evaluate the piece to persuade people to like it as much as I did. Secondly, throughout the movie you see a very gripping plot that leads up to a fantastic ending that will leave u wanting more. Lastly, I would like to talk about the action that seems to never end, and the heroics that you would expect out of this.
The movie Gladiator is the mid life story of a Roman general named Maximus who is betrayed by the Cesar’s son on account of a jealous rage over being heir to the throne and sent to death for murder. As we move along he is picked up by a trader after the death of his wife and son which was issued by Commodus the son of the Cesar. After he is traded and sent to be a gladiator by force and not by choice he shows is brute strength and knowledge of the sword. After the Death of Cesar, Commodus takes the throne and organizes games to pay respect to Marcus Aurelious his father. Maximus goes to the Colosseum with his fellow gladiators to try and survive the task at hand. Once Commodus finds out whom the gladiator that everyone has been calling the Spaniard, he goes into a vicious rage to end Maximus’ life. On the final battle between Commodus (the new Cesar) and Maximus, there was a cheating stab by the Cesar so Maximus would be weak and easily beaten. But what a fool he was, even through all the blood loss he still triumphed to kill Cesar and return Rome to the Senate. The beautiful scenery and wonderful work with the pictures brings this movie to life through digital mastery.
“If you enjoy visceral (and I mean visceral) action, crowd-whooping heroics and stirring acts of resistance against tyranny, if the aphorism "hack or be hacked" rings true, then вЂ?Gladiator’ is one extended guilty pleasure” (Howe 1) As Desson stated I enjoyed many of the characteristics he used to describe this fantastic movie. As I engaged to watch, I also noticed when I asked fellow friends what they thought of the move and they think, like I think. The movie it’s self was a masterpiece something truly worthy of the four stars Andrew Johnson gave it when reporting from NewsWeek. By looking at the box, right off you think that it is going to be purely brutal war movie that has no detail into the subject. How ever you see the gripping plot and the truthfulness of Rome’s true self. The Movie how ever is two and a half hours long with a few spots that seem
