Abstract
The aim of this paper is to showcase the early steps of managing and developing a Hospital Information System for 'Hospital Serdang International' by System Solutions Sdn Bhd. This paper covers the company profile, module selection, advertisement, interview session for the new recruitments, and cost estimation of this project
1.0 Introduction
System Solutions Sdn. Bhd. have been selected and trusted to build a hospital information system for the new 'Hospital Serdang International' This estimated project costing around 15 million with the duration of 2+1 years to complete is the sixth project for System Solutions Sdn. Bhd. From the experience gained in their last project for Hospital Universiti Kebangsaaan Malaysia (HUKM) which is similar to this Hospital Information System, it is convinced that this project would have a good outcome and be ready within the time given.
The company have been offered to choose from 3 core modules of the Hospital Information System and the have chosen the Administrative Modules which consist of Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Inventory Management, Library Management and System Security. The modules chosen to be reviewed in this paper is Human Resource Management and System Security.
Given the 'big' budget and 3 years of project timeline, The company have to recruit additional task force by conducting interviews after advertising the job openings and estimating the cost of this project.

First project completed on 25th December 1996, a Cinema Information System for Tanjung Golden Village, Malaysia.

2.0 Selected Modules
We have chosen 2 modules from the administrative module:

* System security
as this modules play an important role for the employees and administrators and security is an essential part of any system.
2.1 Human Resource Management Module
The Human Resource Management module is a component covering all other human resource aspects from application to retirement. The system records basic demographic and address data, selection, training and development, capabilities and skills management, compensation planning records and other related activities. Leading edge systems provide the ability to "read" applications and enter relevant data to applicable database fields, notify employers and provide position management and position control.
Typically, Human Resource Management System technology (HRMS) replaces the four core Human Resource (HR) activities by streamlining them electronically;
1) Payroll ( included in the financial module)
2) Time and Labour management ( included in the financial module)
3) Benefit administration ( included in the financial module)
4) Human Resource management.
While using the internet or corporate intranet as a communication and workflow vehicle, the HRMS technology can convert these into web-based HRMS components of the ERP system and permit to reduce transaction costs, leading to greater HR and organizational efficiency. Through employee or manager self-service (ESS or MSS), HR activities shift away from paper based processes to using self-service functionalities that benefit employees, managers and HR professionals alike.
