Immigration is a continuous political topic in the mouths of civilians, talk shows, media all over the world and including our president. This historical framework of this issue is that immigration has been an issue since the past, continues to still be an issue today in the present, and indeed seems persist in the future. Illegal immigrants are human beings looking for way to come into the United States for hope in a better future for themselves and their families. The movie "Una Noche" is about three teens from Cuba and as mentioned before they have high hopes and dreams to make it the United States for a better future. In this case they are attempting to get to Florida which the only thing between them is the ocean.
The political issue within this movie is that like in the real world if an individual is not financially well there is no hope for that individual being able to come into the United States. In the movie this three teenagers are not well off financially and without money or there is no opportunity to get there visas. Two of the young man work in a kitchen in which they are treated unfairly. One of the boys is wanted by the Cuban police because of tourist that was injured within his home. Unfortunately, there is not a moment in the movie that provides the boy with the opportunity to explain what had occurred. The police are looking for him as a criminal in which later is forced to steal to try to leave Cuba. As many of the illegal immigrants in the real world are treated and portrayed as criminals not knowing what there background is in reality.
The message that "Una Noche" portrays is that many individuals will attempt to do anything not minding the many risks that may be out there to fulfill dreams, hopes, and sometimes just hoping for a better future to help their families financially. In this movie the three teenagers are going to be taking the risk of going through the ocean to get to Florida which is only 90 miles on a homemade raft that was made out of wood and inner tubes not realizing the risks of either drowning or sharks. This movie definitely would be biased throughout the movie, the way that the teenagers are dressed the girl is in a torn shirt, and the boy walks with one shoe eventually he gets his father's boots. Also the way they are trying to get there supplies to build a raft to cross the ocean is that they have to steal. Of course, many individuals do struggle and will find a way to try to come to the United States but not all Cubans will have the same experiences or will make the same errors as it was portrayed in this movie. People who try to cross over to the United States on an everyday basis usually are people that do not have the resources to go about getting the appropriate documentation to be able to come to United States.
The media plays an important role in the way the public perceives the immigrants, in a movies if the immigrants are violent than a person that sees an immigrant with the same characteristics as in the movie there mentality is that they're going to see the immigrant as a violent individual. The media influences people in many was sometimes even scaring the immigrant themselves. For example, if a women is being abused and is not a resident or a citizen the women is subject to
