This particular poem by Shel Silverstein had a mutual effect on me. Throughout my life, all I've heard was the don'ts, shouldn'ts, impossibles, won'ts, and to the never haves. My mom was strict on us, so she always pointed out the negatives. Although, we had a harsh past, we still became mature and smarter than my mom thought. People don't realize that what you do and the particular way you depict things has a learning experience.

The reason I liked this poem was because I don't purposely think that we all have to really think about all the negative issues all the time. People focus way too much on the negatives, without looking at the positives. In some situations, I do believe that the negatives are probably the best thing to look at. In this poem though, it sounds like that it explains if you look at all these negative possibilities, that you can achieve anything in your will.

Some of the things I didn't like about this poem were that it's all about the negatives. What about looking at the positives? Positives put you in a great mood and can make you feel good about yourself. Nobody understands that looking at negatives is so much easier than pointing out the positives. Life has become more opinionated and negative. The things people say and the things we say, people feel that. If your negative and all you want to do is point out somebody's or something's flaws then karma will get the best of you rather than you getting positive outlooks.

Listen to the Mustn'ts was a very interesting poem. The beauty of life isn't about the bad things or the negative points. I do believe that we all learn from them and that's what makes it best to point out the positives. Those negatives can become positives, if you focus on making it all better in the end.
