Michigan versus Hawaii Football Game
Final Score: MI: HA:
Football is a big business in our society and especially in Michigan, well actually, all over the United States. The cost of going to school at the University of Michigan is very high and if the team does not win, they just fire the coach and hire a new one. Well, until they hire one that actually creates a winning team. Today’s game is University of Michigan against University of Hawaii in Manoa. The team from Hawaii just got back from playing a game in Australia. They travel a lot of miles to play football, but it is all about the game. They have the starting line-up for both schools, talking about the assets of each player, like they are professionals already instead of College students. Big money maker and it draws in every type of family, from the lowest paid to the highest paid. The Michigan team has an honorary captain today, Michael Jordan, they are the only team that wears his line of Nike clothing. Are these students actually going to finish a degree or just playing to move into the professional realm? Do they actually do their studies while they are playing in college, I guess if you can make a lot of money without a degree, why not?
So, the first commercial opens to find a man and woman in bed on a beach, she is asking him if he was sure he locked their “Buick” Encore that is parked somewhere – God knows where – so he secretly pushes a button on his phone to make sure it is locked. She again turns to him and says – “did you lock the apartment doors?” and then he lies there with images of dove and wild animals going thru their apartment. I guess not everyone can afford a Buick Encore with a phone app that would lock it and turn it on from afar or a nice trip to the beach with a bed on it. After many commercials that target the rich, like the aforementioned one, we had a Cadillac CT6 which was very interesting also, it showed a white Cadillac slowly going through a town while everyone walking was walking backwards – including their dogs and the Cadillac was the only thing going forward. For the high end items, we not only had Cadilllac and Buicks, we also had Geico, Heineken light beer, John Deer XUV599 off-road vehicle, Macy’s expensive cologne, a Mac Surface Pro 4 (who wouldn’t love this computer at $2,000), and another vehicle, a Subaru Outback and lastly Voya Financial with orange money rabbits. I thought it was very interesting that there were so many high end products and services, but my husband informed me that the alumni from Michigan usually make a lot of money. I am not that informed to know which schools are more chosen than others.
Then we go to the mid-priced places or items, so, we have Applebee’s, that’s more my style, I can afford that one, well sometimes. So, for the person leaving the game and wanting dinner and a drink for a good price, this is probably where they would head. We can put Ford vehicles in this range, some maybe in the high end range, but some are affordable for some of us, and sketchers, Dell computers, Toyota South and Bass Pro shops. I could not figure out for the life of me why there were not more restaurants in the mid-level range or any at all in the high end range.
For the low income, we have so many choices, Arby’s, chewy.com, Chick-fil-A, Cottage Inn Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, Geico commercial with a pool (homeowners insurance), McDonalds, Napa Auto parts, Papajohns Pizza, Piolot Gas stations, Popeyes Chicken, Supercuts, Wendy’s. The best commercial of all of these would be the Geico commercial where it came in showing all the children playing in the pool and they were playing Marco Polo, but he was actually there and would say “excuse, but I am Marco Polo”, but they would ignore him and keep playing. Another really good commercial was the one for Papajohns, where it said what do you think Peyton Manning does now on game day, then it showed him making cupcakes and putting everyone from Papajohn’s face on them.
