Spiderman Jazz
This piece reminds me of the original cartoon that I used to watch as a child. However, it is amazing how Michael Bubl?was able to turn a song so simple into a song that sounds so different. I think this piece is full of energy and has a lot more flavour, especially because it is played with so many instruments in the background. The instruments used for this piece are piano, trumpet, trombone, bass, siren, and vocal. I personally enjoy listening to music that has been remade by various artists because of the comparisons I can make. I feel that this particular piece was very nicely made remake and also feel that it is one of the best ones that I have heard. The entire arrangement has turned the corny lyrics into a sophisticated modern sound. Throughout the piece, there is a jumpy upbeat rhythm that is effective is creating the image of Spiderman crawling against the walls of the city. Near the end of the piece, the notes are held longer with increasing dynamics, which create suspense and a dramatic feel.
Circle of Life
This piece is the opening piece for the movie Lion King. It is very peaceful and suggests hope for life. This is the perfect piece for the scene as all the animals gather to meet the new born Simba. I feel that one of the most crucial instruments used in this piece is the drums and the opening African vocal by Lebo Morake, because it adds authenticity. The steady African tempo in the introduction of the piece soothes my mind and helps me to remain calm. The increasing dynamic is effectively used when Simba is introduced to all the animals with the sunlight shining down on him. Although this movie is animated, it appears to feel realistic because of the diverse texture of the song. Although this piece cannot be physically touched, it feels very 3D to me. It feels as if the music and the lyrics are floating around, and surrounding the air around me as I listen to it.
