On behalf of your colleagues, I welcome you to Vet Help a Vet , Inc., and wish you every success here.

We believe that each employee/volunteer contributes directly to the growth and success of Vet Help a Vet , and we hope you will take pride in being a member of our team.

This handbook was developed to describe the policies, programs, and benefits available to eligible employees. You should familiarize yourself with the contents of the handbook as soon as possible, for it will answer many questions about employment with the Vet Help a Vet .

We hope that your experience here will be challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding. Again, welcome!

Vet Help a Vet program (Vet Help a Vet program) Vet Help a Vet program, Inc. is a community based nonprofit organization founded in the South Bronx in 2004 by a group of veterans who were concerned about the lack of resources for vets in Bronx County, particularly the South Bronx. Much of the programs early work focused on leadership activities including the formation of a community coalition that became known as Vet Help a Vet program. As a result of the programs effective leadership and numerous Bronx organizations were formed including South Bronx model cities,

About Vet Harvest Volunteers

Vet Help a Vet Food Harvest was started by a volunteer, and volunteers still fuel its success today. Vet Help a vet Food Harvest gets help from thousands of individual volunteers and hundreds of New York City organizations, including the Police and Fire stations, schools, churches, synagogues and youth groups. They all do it for the same reason; they want to help people in need. Join the front lines of the fight against hunger-become a Vet Help a Vet Food Harvest volunteer.

Operation Frontline

Share Our Strength and Vet Help a Vet Food Harvest have partnered to provide Operation Frontline in New York City. Operation Frontline is a nutrition education and financial planning program nationally sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. This direct outreach program mobilizes culinary and nutrition professionals to teach cooking classes focusing on nutrition and food budgeting to people who are at risk of hunger and malnutrition in New York City. Culinary and nutrition professionals volunteer their time to lead the classes, which run for six weeks and are held at Vet Help a vet Food Harvest agencies. Employee Handbook

This handbook is not an employment contract. It is designed to acquaint you with Vet help a Vet and provide you with information about working conditions, employee benefits, and personnel policies affecting your employment. You should read, understand, and comply with all provisions of the handbook. It describes many of your responsibilities as an employee and outlines the programs developed by Vet Help a Vet to benefit employees, in line with our objective is to provide a work environment that is conducive to both personal and professional growth.

No employee handbook can anticipate every circumstance or question about policy. As Vet Help a Vet continues to grow, the need may arise and management reserves the right to revise, supplement, or rescind any policies or portion of the handbook from time to time as deemed appropriate in our sole and absolute discretion. Within the limits of applicable laws, revisions in these policies may be approved to facilitate the unique operating needs of Vet Help Vets different programs or departments. The only exception to any changes will be our employment-at-will policy that permits you or the Vet Help a Vet to end our relationship for any reason at any time, so long as the reason is not unlawful.

These provisions supersede all existing policies and practices and may not be amended or added to without the express written approval of the Executive Director of Vet Help a Vet.

Employees will, of course, be notified of any changes to the handbook as they occur.
