Pedagogy sometimes is referred to as the proper or correct implementation of teaching strategies. An influential person in the development of teaching strategies was Paulo Freire. Freire published a book, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, which had a major and beneficial influence on American educators and the teacher student relationship.
I feel the term pedagogy somewhat fulfills the characteristics of the teaching defined body of knowledge. The elements and characteristics can undoubtably be comprehended by people that do not have a solid background knowledge in the teaching field. Although understanding the elements of teaching will not make an individual effectively capable of implementing quality instruction in the classroom. An educator of children must prepare and train in specific areas in the sphere of teaching to have beneficial impact on the students they intend to teach. In order to efficiently impart knowledge, conduct activities of educating, and implement teaching strategies requires a deeper understanding of the teaching philosophy and methods to have complete comprehension of the teaching field.
