To discuss Leadership and Title IX from male and female perspectives.
In this week's lesson we took a look at critical thinking concepts assumptions, inferences, and confidence in reasoning. Before learning more about Title IX and gender/sex, what are the assumptions you may have had? Now that you know more, what are the inferences you can draw from the information or personal experiences? Given your experiences and the information provided, on Title IX and a comparison of men and women in leadership roles, do you think the "playing field" in leadership roles in the workforce, education, and athletics have been leveled? Do you feel there is still a NEED for Title IX? Demonstrate confidence in reasoning, by giving FIVE clear and precise facts supporting your position. Why do you believe or hold what you think? How do our assumptions about gender roles influence our programming? Do our assumptions influence whom we ask for help, leadership, for comfort? Does being male or female influence your perspective of leadership roles, and if so why? When you practice Critical Thinking you cannot make "off the top of your head" remarks. As rational beings, our opinions need to be logical, accurate, based on solid information, clear, etc.
This should be a very good week for some "give-and-take" over a current topic. This is not a DEBATE...it is difficult to gauge tone of voice when one writes, so ask a question or two fair-mindedly when replying to others. If you state an opposing point of view, make sure that you back up your challenge with facts and integrity. I will add questions, comments, and interjections to keep us on the correct path, if needed. Enjoy the discussion!
