Police Racial Profiling
I am proposing to write about racial profiling by police.
Racial profiling refers to the practice of police targeting minorities with out probable cause. For example police search two African Americans in front of a store talking and not the two caucasian people next to them. One other example would be a police officer writing more traffic tickets to one race more then the rest. Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or on any other particular identity undermines the basic human rights and freedoms to which every person is entitled.
According to some theories the sociological reason for this problem is that law enforcement officials focus on what people look like, what religion they follow, or what they wear. Racial Profiling Is Discrimination, and It Taints the Entire Criminal Justice System. Racial profiling rests on the erroneous assumption that any particular individual of one race or ethnicity is more likely to engage in misconduct than any particular individual of other races or ethnicities.
Hypotheses: The opportunities for polices to racial profile is becoming a greater problem in the untied states every day. We have laws that are meant to protect the minorities from racial profiling. What I would like to see happen is the police officers that are falling into the catergory of racial profileing be repimanded, and for local government to give the American people their right to be protected from racial porfiling.
