Review topics from previous weeks. Using the SMART Goal strategy-complete Life Action Plan worksheet that includes the following:
- Identify an aspect of your life, we have discussed in class, you feel needs to be improved.
- Consider selecting an area that will provide the greatest opportunity for growth or an area that can make the biggest impact on your success.

My long-term goals in this role – Identify one outcome you plan to achieve within the next 2 to 10 years in this role. 1. Graduate with Master’s degree in psychology. 2. Pass with required or greater grade in every class to achieve my degree. 3. I am given the tools and resources such as the GCU library, the professors and my peers to achieve success in my classes. I am also given a schedule to achieve this and keep my professional and personal living unstressed 4. To help people in need, make more money doing what I like to do and make a better life for my son and me. 5. Graduate in 2025 with my Master’s degree in psychology and start my own practice. |
My short term goals in this role – These are outcomes you plan to achieve in 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month. Each one should bring you closer to achieving your long term goals. 1. Work hard to pass my courses. 2. I will complete all assignments in an orderly, timely and correct manner to GCU standards each week. 3. the schedule given gives me the time to manage my time for work, family and school. It also allows me the time to get my work and studying done for school, so I can get it in on time and correct anything if needed. 4. I will pass all my current courses and work hard to pass all future courses until I graduate. 5. Plan of action to reach this goal (What specific steps will you take to accomplish this – these should be chronological steps (e.g., A, B, C, etc.) 1. Complete all my courses I am given in a passing or better grade to receive my degree. 2. To receive my degree and get a job that will let me start using the knowledge I have learned in my education after I receive my bachelor’s degree. 3. Once I get some on the job experience under my belt, get my name into the counselor and psychologist world and building up my cliental, I should have my master’s degree by then. Then get ready to find how I can open my own practice 4. Find out what cost will be to open my new practice. Where I should locate it and to see if I would have enough cliental and assistance to open my own practice. 5. Open my own practice by 2026 or 2027. SMART is one method used for goal setting, which means specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. This plan is to set a more powerful and purpose driven goal or goals (Lecture 7, 2017). |
