REFLECTION JOURNAL 2
"I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people" Indira Ghandi pg.33.
Chapter three describes the different approaches people take to resolve conflict, to me respect and the desire to work through problems in a mature manner suggests resolve. Simply letting other people see how you handle certain situations brings respect and understanding. Walking the walk, in other words; is important for everyone.
The first approach is power-based and means a win and lose situation. The weak will submit to the
strong; the one with power. Naturally, this approach breeds resentments and I doubt it stimulates production. My parents use to get me to do things in this way, yielding their parental power and stating that" it was their house" or "because they said so" how do you argue with that. I have worked for people that refused to budge on anything. Their way was the

Pertaining to the law, a third party decides, based on the law; the outcome that is right and just. In the
work force, we follow rules of conduct set in place by our employers for our benefit. No-one
should be harassed our treated badly by others' we are all just trying to pay the bills. If these
rules were absent; work would be a nightmare. Wrong and right is what motivates this approach.
The last approach is interest-based; it even sounds better than the other two. This approach, is based on
a mutually beneficial solution. Collaborating and meeting in the middle seems the best
