We intend to decrease the quantity of human interface, thereby decreasing error and long term labor costs. The requirement from Riordan manufacturing is a recommendation of specific systems changes that improve their inventory processes and incorporating computer systems to become more efficient. To successfully take on the process that is detailed within is a willingness to change your current inventory processes to a more technology friendly one. Doing so will accomplish many things. For one; it will improve productivity, which equates to more revenue. Secondly, it will alleviate human error associated with data input, as all processes will be automated, which means a more accurate inventory and accounting process. Thirdly, you will out perform and out last your closest competitor. Incorporating these changes will get you in more close competition with your nearest rival in yearly sales. A complete overhaul and update of the current computer and networking system will be preformed over a three to four month period. In addition, we will troubleshoot your existing electric power distribution, repair and upgrade as needed to rectify your power failure problem. The amount of time mentioned here is important, the majority of construction related work, i.e. electrical trouble-shooting, the laying of Ethernet cables, the installation of mounting bracket hardware and additional electric wall outlets will be performed after hours so as to not disturb your current work flow. May/Baxter Incorporated will accommodate your current process with minimal to no work disruption due to our service installation. In the event we have to access an area that may interrupt your operation, we will notify the floor supervisor of this need and schedule the appropriate time to carry out our function.

Computer hardware needed to update your current process is state of the art, incorporating a modern system will bring to light more productivity and increased profit. The hardware consists of; desk top computers for the key personnel or primary data users in the receiving area, manufacturing area, shipping floor and administrative/accounting personnel. A secure, wireless capable Local Area Network (LAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN) will be installed, which will provide instant connectivity and data access for personnel in the manufacturing plant to your corporate headquarters in San Jose, and your offices and plants in Albany, Georgia, Pontiac, Michigan and Hangzhou, China . Keeping in touch is essential in the business world and you inventory process is out of touch with minimum technology utilized and maximum human interaction (too much hands on application).

For your receiving area we will equip your receiving supervisors and key personnel with tablet personal computers. These tablet PC's will have wireless connectivity for instant updates to your accounting and inventory data mangers. All incoming shipments will be read via the UPC bar code readers with data being instantly sent via the wireless LAN and SAN to the database, allowing for instant access for key personnel.

We will develop a software program that will track all raw material needed for each product Riordan manufactures. Based on your engineers input we will establish low-level limits and high-level limits. When the quantity of a raw material item reaches it's assigned low-level, an order request will be sent to your supply department to place an order to re-stock the item to its assigned high-limit. The supply personnel should verify all order information for accuracy. In addition to tracking the raw materials, the software will track the quantity of products you manufacture that are available for shipment. Low and high-level limits will be assigned to these items so that the production floor will know the exact quantity to produce for each item to sustain your customers for a six-moth period. Keeping this six-month sustaining quantity on hand will allow you ample time to recover from an unforeseen, work-stopping event. It will also provide your customer with the service they are accustomed to receiving from Riordan. All outgoing orders will process through your shipping area will be equipped in a similar fashion. Processed orders will be sent to the shipping floor at least 12 hours prior to a scheduled pickup via the label printer, which will print the orders invoice form, a UPC label and a shipping label. As shipments are palletized the shipping clerk scans the UPC codes. Each outgoing order is then transmitted via wireless to the appropriate databases.
