Gaffer
Gaffer is the person in charge of lighting in a filming crew. Gaffer has one of the most important jobs in a filming crew and needed for a short film or professional movie to be complete. As a gaffer, you are not only controlling the light, but you are the head of the electrical department. Gaffer’s duties include: lighting set up, supervising the electrical crew, and organization. Without a gaffer, a movie would look much different, specially if its filmed at night.
Lighting set up is part of the process of making a movie. It is a very effective way to make a better quality. In classical portraiture there are several things you need to control and think about to make a flattering portrait of your subjects, including lighting ratio, lighting pattern, facial view, and angle of view. It is always good to have a better lighting because it makes your movie way better by doing that more people will watch your movie and you will make more money and you will get more famous better lighting is the key for a good movie. Lighting is one of the most important components to setting up the perfect shot. Proper lighting completes the scene by adding a dark and gloomy hue to an ominous rainy night, or sundrenched haze on a deserted island. Director cannot rely on natural lighting to accomplish their vision, instead they create their own effects with the help of the gaffer. Gaffer is a very important job.
You are not expected to have a specific degree to become an electrician or gaffer, but you will need experience and training in film or TV production. A college education is a great place to start to build your resume and compile a demo reel of your work. Student films and independents are the best way to start learning the trade. Work in the electrical department requires knowledge of lighting equipment, electricity, and color theory. Courses in art, photography, and electrical engineering are helpful. Most electricians at all levels must become members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the union that represents technicians in film, TV, and theater.
I am going to be good for this job because I have experience doing lighting and I think this is a great job for me. I like this job because I enjoy doing it and I don’t feel force while doing the job one of my feature job and I want to be a pro gaffer. One of my favorite gaffer is Bob Field he is 74 years old, he was born on June 13, 1944. He is the Haslam and Dewey professor of chemistry at the Massachusetts institute of Technology, where he has been a professor since 1974. Some of the facts about him is that he was a Postdot with Herbert Broida at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
