Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Green’s The Fault in Our Stars explore first love. Compare how the authors present the relationship, noting the similarities and differences.
Both Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet and john greens the fault in our stars both base on the key theme of 1st love. Shakespeare’s novel revolves around
John Green (the fault in our stars) opens up the story with Hazel Grace, who is your average everyday teenager except for the little fact that she's got all sorts of cancer in her body and her lungs aren't working very well. Hazels parent then decide that attending a support group would be the best thing for her, after attending a few sessions, a new boy catches her eye. Well, to be accurate, they catch one another's eyes. Soon after, hazel and Augustus are flirtatious friends that talk to each other about everything. Hazel shares her favorite book, An Imperial Affliction, with Augustus, and together they obsess about the unsolved ending of the novel. Augustus manages to somehow get through to the author and when Hazel emails him, he invites her to come to Amsterdam to discuss the ending of the book. A fan's dream come true. In the meantime, Augustus and Hazel's good friend Isaac is losing his eye (the only person he has left) due to wanting to become cancer-free at long last. But throughout this process, he also loses his girlfriend Monica, who supposedly can't "deal" with having a blind boyfriend. Yeah, we think she's a little over the top too, but it was meant to be ‘”Always”.
Some similarities I noticed that occurred between the film and the novel where
They accept death as a solution to a massive problem, where Gus and hazel don’t see it as a solution it’s just think of it as a learning experience, journey, Burdon, way or life.
Some differences that occurred between both the film and novel where
The way they deal with their love- in a way is very different between them as, not being able to run freely, Romeo and Juliet and not wanted to be together by others, there love is so strong that when Romeo sees Juliet lying there (asleep as she took a poison, but a sleeping one) Romeo then takes their love in to count that if I can’t have her then she can’t have me so he gets the poison out of his pocket and gulps it down. Juliet then wakes up and sees Romeo dead. They need to hide their love as it’s not allowed to be shown due to certain rules. They don’t know that they are going to die
