Broderick Steven "Steve" Harvey (born January 17, 1956 in Welch, West Virginia) is an American actor, entertainer and comedian.Raised in Cleveland.A comic who has been a hit on the club circuit and given shots at sitcom stardom, Steve Harvey comes from a working class African American background and his humor tends to relate life around the kitchen table. Harvey first stepped on stage in 1985 at a Cleveland club where he won the amateur night contest. He then went on the road performing at clubs throughout the US and Canada and clocking more than 120,000 miles on his car. Harvey had early TV exposure on "The Comedy Concert Hour" (The Nashville Network, 1990) and on "Comedy From the Caribbean" .therefor leading to a long stint as host of It's Showtime at the Apollo.However his success came as a stand-up comedian.
Steve Harvey Show, which ran from 1996 to 2002.The show won multiple NAACP Image awards.In 1997, Harvey continued his work in stand-up comedy, touring as one of the Kings of Comedy, along with Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac.Following the end of his runs on Showtime at the Apollo and The Steve Harvey Show, Harvey continued acting in some minor roles, but has become a major figure in many African-American functions.In addition, he has released an audio CD of up-and-coming hip hop and R&B artists on a record label he founded, and has authored a book, Steve Harvey's Big Time.That title was also used as the name of Harvey's comedy and variety television show.Aiso Harvey hosted his own radio morning radio show, The Steve Harvey Morning Show, syndicated under Radio One, Inc. broadcasting company, from September 2000 till May 2005.Harvey has twin daughters with his first wife and a son with his current wife, Mary Lee.
