The profit from the sale of new computer games software will RESEARCH GRANT APPLICATION 2 – 3 March 2017 INTRODUCTION The function of an IPTS has been changed from merely providing training courses and classroom lectures to a more holistic role in which academics in IPTS are required to conduct research and publish in refereed journals. However, some of the academics in IPTS perceive writing and applying for a research grant as a complex task. They are lacking of experience in preparing quality research proposal, and some of them never try for any research grant in their career. In fact, the process of writing and applying for a research grant is not very complicated if one familiars with the grant application process This 2-day workshop intends to provide the academics the essential insights on the processes of grant application with emphasis on writing a good proposal. The topics covered include: propose a catchy grant topic; selection of team members; writing executive summary of research proposal; writing research background, objectives and methodology; preparing flow chart, gantt chart and milestones of research activities; writing expected outcome of the grant; preparing the budget; filling up the online MyGRANTS system; grant project monitoring process; publish in refereed journals. He obtained his PhD degree majoring in Financial Economics. Puah has been actively involved in Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics areas since 2000. Until now, he received more than 40 research grants and consultancy projects with totaling amount more than RM7 million. At present, he has published more than 60 referred journal articles in various international journals He received several academic awards from UNIMAS which include the Best Researcher Award, Anugerah Ahli Akademik Harapan, Young Researcher Award, Highest Impact Factor Journal Article Award (Social Sciences Category) and Best Teaching Award; several Best Paper Awards and Gold Medal Awards in international conferences and research exhibitions. He is also an Associate Managing Editor for International Journal of Business and Society (IJBS) that is now indexed in SCOPUS and Thomson Reuters Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)
