The Road Not Taken

A very popular poem written by Robert Frost is called "The Road not Taken." In my opinion this poem reflects the theme of choices. Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken," leaves its readers with a number of different ways to understand its significance. I feel that the reader's life experiences pertaining to the past, present, and viewpoint on the future will determine how the reader will understand this poem. Even though the understanding of this poem may vary from person to person, the fundamental meaning is about life's choices, and the choices we choose to make through out our lives.

The poem is about a man who comes to a fork in a road that he has been traveling on. Frost uses this fork in the road to represent a point in his life where he has to choose which direction he will take. The road the man chooses which is the unknown has a "better claim," since it is the road that is least traveled on. In my opinion by the man choosing this road, a hint to Frost's personality is exposed. He is the type of individual that wants to try something fresh, exciting and different. This poem is a reminder that one choice in life can change everything. Overall this poem is about the choices. It also is about the choices not chosen and the thought of wondering about them, and what possibly could have been if decisions were made differently.
