Proving Gods Existence

It is important to understand what one believes in. God exists only to those who not only believe, but also understand His existence. Based on The Ontological Argument, Saint Anselm states, "no one who understands what God is can conceive that God does not exist." How can somebody understand God when they can only believe in God's existence, and nothing more? Some things in life are hard to prove, God's existence being one of the most difficult ones. It is a very controversial topic, but ultimately it is dependent on the individual. There is no right or wrong answer when trying to figure out if God is part of reality or if God is just a part of people's imagination.

In thinking about this powerful being, most will come to describe God as the creator of the world and everything on it. Saint Anselm states, "If a mind could conceive of a being better than thee, the creature would rise about the Creator." Often, people have difficulty accepting that there is a higher being who possibly has the power to control certain things in nature that are out of our power. In order to put oneself in the mental state to accept this phenomenon one must completely open themselves up to believing in the unseen and the unknown. Many people also have difficulty coming to this realization for fear of the unknown and God's powers.

God, being thought of as a figure with the utmost power is mentioned when Saint Anselm says, "God is that, than which nothing greater can be conceivedÐ'--That which can be conceived not to exist is God." What he is trying to say is that God is the highest power and there is nothing that can overtake God, because God is the creator of everything and it would not make any sense for God to create a being more powerful than Himself. If God however did decide to do so, this creation would rise above God and that makes absolutely no sense.

God is associated with everything good, and moral. When we practice and promote morality, we ultimately believe in God, this makes Him exist.
