Is Nationalism the Disease of Mankind?

Nationalism is beneficial to mankind so long as it is not being used to encroach on the Rule of Law, or human rights. It is to be a part of something, it gives a patriotic feeling. Safety is the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury. Security is the state of being free from danger or threat. Cooperation is the process of working together to the same en, or assistance. Equality is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights and opportunities. Unity is a state of being united or joined as a whole. Rule of Law is the restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordination is to well-defined and established laws. Communication is the imparting of exchanging of information or news. Internationalism is the state or process of being international. Public safety is the welfare and protection of the general public. Freedom of expression is the right to express one's ideas and opinions freely through speech, writing, and other forms of communication. Freedom of speech is the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint. It is a complex issue because it can be turned from cooperation to self-interest, it can turn into ultranationalism, and feeling superiority over others, but only if it is taught to be that way. Nationalism is a good thing because it helps mankind to find improvements in human life. Our history has shown multiple examples of nationalism improving our world, such as the French revolution, advancement in science and technology, and even the upcoming of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Canada’s independence. Nationalism creates safety, security, equality, and unity. Famous world leaders, and theorists have even spoken about the positive outcomes of nationalism such as Richard Price, to Donald Trump. They speak about how nationalism can the cause of all great things that happen, it is what makes the world a better place, and encourage the people to believe that what they say is true.
The French revolution is an example that nationalism is a good thing. It was created to seek rights, equality, and unity for every person no matter what their status. It was on June 20th, 1789 that the Tennis Court Oath came into full play. 577 people in the third class came together to make a stand against the kingdom. They said that they would “ not to separate, and to reassemble wherever the circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established.” . They did this to create equality between classes, for fair representation. On August 4th, 1789, the abolition of feudalism happened, then on August 26th,1789 the Declaration of rights of man and citizen was printed. If this form of nationalism had not happened, this declaration may not of been made.
Nationalism helped in making major technological advances. The connection to nationalism is related to its capacity to connect to the culture of the local and the global. We wouldn't be where we are today with our technology if we hadn't experienced nationalism. We are more interconnected because of nationalism. Technology is a core feature of modernism, and the kind of nationalism that is on offer is one that will be organized technocratically.
