Writing Self-Assessment Reflection
I am very creative and can come up with some great ideas. Pushing to better myself. I am not always writing and should write more often to keep up the skill. Making sure all of my ideas flow together and support each other is a main challenge I struggle with almost every time I write. Keeping the paragraphs organized and on topic. GCU has shown me, in the Writing Process Tutorial, how to organize my essay. Being able to see how and what to do has been a blessing.
Going over the feedback of my writing, I have noticed that I do not always have my writing at the specific specs for the GCU Style, or any other style the instructor would like us to use. I need to make sure that my margins and first word of the paragraph are spaced correctly for what I am doing. Also, I need to make sure that I put in enough detail. Tending to lack some very important details on the point I am trying to get across. Knowing all of this, I should and will be able to have my writing be the best it can be.
Everyone can always use some improvement on their writing. For myself, I have been given the tools from GCU to help on any writing skills I would/will need help with. The GCU Student Success Center has tutorials about the Writing Process and How to Write a College Essay. I have already been looking over them many times through this course. There is a website I have been looking into for my typing as well, http://www.goodtyping.com/ . If I really need a major boost or significant help, I can always get a tutor from GCU.
My writing from the past is kind of horrible. I have not written anything for about twelve years. The last time I remember having to write an essay or journal entry was my high school year in English about whatever we wanted. I think I did pretty well. I can say that I love writing research papers. If I get to research something, I learn so much. History was my favorite; the Holocaust or any war. Learning about a topic, then writing a paper that someone else can read and get a feeling of what you learned and loved. Everyone’s opinion or ideas are so different. To see a topic that so many have written about, but you always learn something new each time.
