Servant Leadership
Servant leaders are used in the world today and are considered to be similar to Jesus Christ in the Bible. The verses in the Bible explain how the teachings of Jesus could make him an example of a servant leader. According to Robert Greenleaf ( ) "Listening" "showing that one has empathy to healing, persuasion, awareness, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, and a commitment to growth of others while growing the community of the people ( ). I agree that religions and philosophies are compatible with servant leadership. The leaders in the church are ones that put people and the community that they serve first. Christianity and Judaism are the two religions that in this paper I am going to discuss how they are both associated with being a servant leader.
The comparison of Christianity with Pastors and Judaism with Rabbis with servant leadership is best said in (Matthew 20:26-28)" Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave-just as the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as ransom for many". The words of the congregation and the community they serve which is by the powerful word of mouth this allows them to continue to grow while helping others with the challenges they are faced with. Listening is important in both the role of the Pastor and the Rabbi not only are they teachers they are listeners. The leadership role they hold has many hats as one could say they have to have empathy to those that have placed their trust in them. According to the Bible (Romans 12:15 "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep".
The Ability to invest into the lives of people so that the church community is able to grow and become more like Jesus demonstrates the willingness of Pastors and Rabbis. The Bible also states in (Ephesians 4:12) "To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body od Christ may be built up" meaning with Christ in the leading role everyone that serves is in a act of ta leadership role.
